Open a kitchen cupboard and you’re more than likely to find a bottle of olive oil. Many recipes call for it as it’s easily accessible and contrary to what people think, has many proven health benefits. Olive oil is high in healthy monounsaturated fats and has the power to decrease blood cholesterol and even contains anti-ageing properties.
Our favourite way to enjoy it is with fresh bread dipped into some extra virgin and tangy balsamic, a classic that never fails to go down a treat with the whole family. However, if you’re looking for something more out there, olive oil can add a delicious twist to desserts and sweets. Try drizzling it over vanilla ice cream with some honey and a pinch of sea-salt, or check out this this flourless lemon olive oil cake by The Macadames.
Any chef will tell you that when it comes to olive oil it’s really all about the quality, so we’ve teamed up with Jamie’s Italian to learn a bit more on how we can choose the best oil to suit our tastebuds. Check it out below!
