This summer we’ve teamed up with Fentic Wellbeing to #RiseToTheChallenge of making over a loved one’s living room on a £100 budget. It’s a campaign that focuses on showing appreciation for all that our Grandparents and Great-Grandparents do for the family. Naturally, we jumped at the opportunity to take part!
On this occasion we decided to surprise the boys’ Grandma, who is based in Edinburgh. We’re so lucky to have her relatively close by and for all her support, especially as the boys’ other grandparents live abroad and sadly don’t get to see them very often. It makes Finlay and Parker’s trips to Edinburgh extra special!
What instantly came to mind when set with this interior makeover challenge was to flood Lynne’s living room with flowers. I love how they have the ability to make a dramatic impact and are rarely something we treat ourselves to. Here is a before and after photo to show the transformation they made!

We opted for Orchids due to the fact they live longer – it’s nice to know they can be enjoyed for weeks to come and will even re-flower once or twice each year if looked after well. Not only are Orchids uplifting, but they help improve air quality and have a calming influence. They’re also low maintenance, needing only to be watered about once every 7 days in summer.
We decided to vary up the colours and ordered an oversized traditional white orchid and one slightly more flamboyant pink version. After all, it’s fun to bring in a pop of colour during the summer months! We’re so happy with how they turned out and for the chance to do this small gesture.
To all the wonderful Grandparents and Great-Grandparents, thank you for all you’ve done and for the wise perspectives you share with us.
