Ok, so I need to apologise for my bare face in these pictures, but sometimes there’s nothing for it but to forget makeup and simply usher everyone out the house for a blustery walk along the beach. It’s one of our favourite things to do together as a family, as nothing beats having a large open space where our toddler can run free and burn off all his energy. Parker still enjoys his long daily naps and tends to be oblivious to his beautiful surroundings, yet he always sleeps for longer when he’s cocooned in his carrier.
For a few weeks now we’ve been testing out the Stokke My Carrier. As you know, we’re big fans of Stokke in our household and use their baby items on a day to day basis. Their products are great quality, stylish and most importantly our little ones love using them too. The My Carrier is a 3-in-1 baby carrier, with inward facing, outward facing and back carrying options. Like many of Stokke’s products, the My Carrier grows with your child and has adjustable seating positions, which support and use the natural “Happy Hips” position.
I’ve found the My Carrier sits a bit higher than previous carriers I’ve used, which is closer to your centre of gravity. Being 5ft 4″, to begin with I wasn’t sure if I found this set up comfortable, but by our second outing I’d managed to work out how to adjust the straps better to suit my frame. For this reason, it’s worth watching their Youtube demonstration videos and giving it a test run at home first so that you know what you’re doing – rather than “winging it” when you’re already out and about and on the clock.
Like all Stokke products, the quality of the carrier is excellent. All of the fastenings are easy to open and close, yet extremely secure. I chose the unisex soft brown colour so that both my husband and I could wear it. I’ve been impressed by how well it easily fits both of us and how comfortable Parker is whenever he’s in it – In fact, he’s usually asleep within a few minutes, a true sign of a content baby.
The carrier can also be used for back carrying, which we’ve briefly tested and found secure and simple to set up. At this stage we’ve been using the front carry option more frequently, as Parker is still under 1 and currently prefers facing inwards. However, the back carrier is a brilliant option for when P’s older and we can go for some more adventurous hikes where he can look out easily.
Overall, we’ve been really impressed with Stokke’s My Carrier and I can see now why it gets such rave reviews from fellow parents. The best feature I believe is the fact it can be used from birth (7.7lb) all the way through to toddlerhood. I can’t wait to see how we get on using it in the future as P gets bigger (and I hopefully get fitter!) So far it’s just as comfortable at 9 months as it was a couple of months earlier! Watch this space.
